To the editors of the Wesleyan Christian Advocate
This letter is of a current topic and may even be profound in some regard. The editors are free to make whatever changes they deem fruitful.
Jesus realized that if he could not even convince his own disciples to be willing to love each other on faith alone, that the Holy Spirit could not rule in them as he ruled in him. And that was the point of the incarnation, to show the way, the way into eternal life and the avoidance of death. He finally realized that the only way that he could convince them would be if he died in order to save them (take me and let the others go) and then command his own resurrection in a faith greater than that of Abraham (for Abraham had reached to the half-truth to save himself). It was only then that they finally came to love each other as beloved bothers and sisters of this older brother and thus able to receive this Spirit. Jesus the Unutterable. He had died and then came back to tell us that we no longer have to die. His truth was simple: if you will simply love the each other more than self, God will provide all else.
Now the disciples have the key to salvation. What now ensues when these disciples turn the lock, the lock of law and death?
There are two recorded cases of this unity in love with the Holy Spirit. One is at Pentecost and the other is at the Council of Jerusalem. O my brothers and sisters! heed me here! In the unity of Pentecost these lovers of Christ, who knew him in the flesh and who had all power over their fellow humans, decreed that all of us who claim to be gentile are free of any man-uttered law, free for the purpose of loving all people as self, all Christians more than self, and of serving God just as we are without having to change our condition, except that always we are to avoid promiscuity. Hence the thief must give up his stealing, but not any left handedness.
Once we achieve unity on this point we shall become the Church in Christ, just as Paul was the Gentile in Christ. We too are living our faith just as did the disciples when they set us free in the name of Jesus Christ, thereby forever binding heaven. Not even the Pope can rescind this Edit of Liberation. Despite scriptural evidence to the contrary we can declare to the world in the name of this liberation: God loves left handed people just as they are.
Now those in a Muslamic trance will find this had to accept, but we have it on the authority both of Kant and the Church that while left handed people sometimes act funny it is because they are trying to accomodate themselves to a world which they did not create, the curious world of the right hander. Its too bad that we can only read words in one direction and not the other, for that would have made it much more simple for the left handers and so for all of us.
I share this with fellow United Methodists in the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
I wonder if other people feel as moved as I am when I hear the song say:
"All hail the power of Jesus' name, let angles prostrate fall"
for while the Muslims and angles are face down when he enters, we shall be lifting our hands in spontaneous adoration. I think it should be come custom when singing this song for us to raise our hands together in good order and look for the face of Christ and hail him first of all. For we will not be able to contdain ourselves.
